NHTSA w200

The Driver Distraction Reduction Certification concerns the interaction with the technological devices (e.g. infotainment) present in vehicles, associated with secondary tasks that divert the attention of the driver of a vehicle, removing their eyes from the road and their hands from the steering wheel.

Several studies have identified three main types of driver distractions:

- Visual (eyes)

- Manual (eyes not on the road, and hands not on the steering wheel)

- Cognitive (lack of concentration in the driving task).

ErgoCert is the first internationally accredited certification body to offer accredited certification according to the NHTSA-2010-0053 standard.

By using the eye tracker instrumentation, we can record eye movements in real time and, in combination with other instruments, we can analyze the movements of the hands and head related to distraction while driving. The advanced technological equipment available allows us to accurately detect these visual and biomechanical phenomena, in order to verify the compliance of the systems assessed with the NHTSA-2010-0053 guidelines

HMI UsabilityHuman Machine Interface

HMI w200

ErgoCert certifies the usability of HMI (Human Machine Interface) systems, preparing tests with specific users. These tests are developed ad hoc, and can be applied to the evaluation of the effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction associated with the interaction with websites, software, apps or vehicle infotainment devices.

The tests are carried out both at the ErgoCert site and remotely.

The results are useful for the company to define the usability level of a system. In particular, it is possible to obtain results for each requested task:

1. The effectiveness of each command (if and how long this command has been successfully identified and operated, success and error rates, etc.);

2.  What the level of efficiency is (activation time);

3.  User satisfaction (pleasantness levels)

The ergonomic design of a control center is a crucial element to ensure the efficiency and safety of operators and operations carried out. In 2011 ErgoCert drafted the Ergonomic Design Guidelines for the Control Stations of RFI (Italian Railway Network).

Today we are able to provide a certification accredited by ACCREDIA, based on the ISO 11064 series, applicable to both control stations and control centers. This through 3D CAD review and, if required, through the application of technical sensors (eye tracking glasses, inertial system, etc.), which allows to obtain quantitative data by integrating the physical (postures) and cognitive (attention, vigilance, human error) aspects. This certification is accredited by Accredia.
